Ritsu Tainaka ~ “Don’t Say Lazy”
K-On!
Inspiration: I had already done Ritsu’s school uniform with a group of friends (best K-On group ever!) so it was only natural that we decided to do these really cute outfits from the first ending of the series.
Materials/Construction Details: As with a lot of things lately, I drafted my own pattern for the top. I chose a black suiting material that had a slight shine to it and made sure to line the entire thing. Small black eyelets were installed in the back so that it could be laced up. I bought a pre-made shear ruffle trim from JoAnn’s to finish it off. The jodhpurs were actually purchased on ebay (a lucky find) along with the knee-high leather boots. The flower on the headband was made with layers of felt and a ton of black and gold tulle to make it more three-dimensional.
Wig: This is by far my most worn wig and I’m not done with it yet. Ritsu never changes her hair (like Tsumugi does), she just changes her headband so I get to reuse the same wig over and over again.
Prop: I had a little extra time so I made the pom-pom flower things that Ritsu and Tsumugi hold on the CD cover of “DSL”. I bought the white ruffle trim from Hancock Fabrics, dyed it bright orange and yellow, and cinched the ruffles into tight circles. I then added the lime green and bright pink ribbon and red beads in the center. They actually didn’t take very long to make and were a fun little project.
