Adventure Time

Inspiration: Adventure Time is an amazingly clever, adorable show that I’ve wanted to cosplay from for years. I’m not usually one for wearing a lot of pink, but Princess Bubblegum is just brilliant. This particular outfit was from season 2 and I really liked the Lady Rainicorn shirt she wears.

Materials/Construction Details: I bought a yellow shirt from Walmart and painted the rainicorn design on it with pink fabric paint. The shorts, shoes, and socks were all purchased. My friend, Samu-chan, made the crown for me out of sintra, which I then painted yellow and glued the blue gem on.

I mixed together white and bright pink Ben Nye creme body makeup to tint my skin light pink. It wasn’t very difficult, but it was time consuming and I had issues with the paint getting on the white shorts and socks despite having sealed it with powder.

Wig: I bought a 48 inch bright pink wig from ebay for this costume. I trimmed the bangs and then spent weeks spraying the wig down with Motions spray and brushing it out. Despite my efforts, it still tangled quite easily, but it was still much more tolerable than it would have been without the work.

Prop: I made the backpack for our Finn and will be wearing it myself soon when I make my Fiona costume! (One of my cats completely looks like Cake!) The backpack is made out of cotton and stuffed with poly-fiber fill. The straps have a layer of upholstery foam between the layers.
