Wedding Asami – Original Design

Inspiration: Jessie and I cosplayed Korra and Asami together and we got to thinking that it would be really cute to do wedding versions of these characters. We both still had our real life wedding dresses and mine was even trimmed in red, so we decided to make it happen!

Materials/Construction Details: I used my actual wedding dress for this costume. I thought the design might be a little too simple for Asami, so I purchased a dark red lace shrug to wear with it. I bought a simple two-tiered veil from a craft store and stitched red ribbon around the edges of both tiers to add a pop of red to it. The beautiful fabric floral hair accessory was made by Mountain Musings on Etsy. I also wore a water tribe betrothal necklace, which was made by my Korra, Jessie Lykens.

Wig: This wig is a Matilda in black by Arda-wigs. I cut the lace front into a widows-peak and shaped the hair framing the face with curlers. The wig started out very curly, so I brushed the curls out to make them more wavy.

Prop: I made our bouquets for these costumes, combining an arrangement of silk flowers of various shades of blue and red. My bouquet featured one blue rose in the center and Jessie’s/Korra’s had one red rose at the center.
