Siesta (Maid Artwork)
Zero no Tsukaima

Inspiration: Meru was given the opportunity to run the maid café at Anime South and she chose a Zero no Tsukaima theme based on an Eiji Usatsuka illustration from the season 2 DVD art.  I had already cosplayed Siesta before and the outfits were extremely cute, so I was eager to join the group.  I’m not much of a waitress, but I had so much fun helping run the café!

Materials/Construction Details:  Unfortunately when the time came around to make these costumes, I had to undergo some surgery and was mostly bedridden for nearly four weeks.  However, Mary over at twinklebat.net stepped in and took on this last minute commission.  She did such a high quality job and I think it turned out gorgeous!  Obviously I can’t talk too much about the construction, but it’s made out of many yards of sunny jasmine satin and white ruffle trim from Hancock Fabrics.  All the girls based their outfits off the same pattern and purchased the same ruffle socks and accessories.

Wig:  I bought this wig from amphigory.com and was surprised by how silky smooth it was.

Prop:  All the maids had silver trays with white doilies used to deliver cakes and beverages to our guests.
