Suikoden III

Inspiration: This was my first Suikoden costume and I chose Lilly because she’s a strong spirited young woman whose actions were often quite comical.  Tom and I both picked characters from Suikoden III who had been in previous Suikoden games.  He went with my favorite character, Futch.  There wasn’t really a good female character to go along with him, so I just chose one of my favorite girls from the game in general.

Materials/Construction Details:  I didn’t have a sewing machine when making this costume, so I did the best I could by modifying a blue woman’s suit jacket that I found at a thrift store.  I added the black trim around the base and up the center and then cut the sleeves short, adding a tight black cuff so there would be a bit of a poof to the sleeve.  I also modified a pair of blue suede boots by cutting them, folding the top over, and adding a white ribbon trim.  The white trim on the hat was painted on.

Wig: Rather than buying a wig for this costume I dyed my own hair so that it would have a red tint.  Luckily I liked the color, but I had so much to learn about what a good wig could mean for a costume!

Prop: Tom was able to modify my Xianghua sword to work for Lilly’s.  It had to be sanded down, repainted, and have a cross hilt added.
