Maestro Delphine Eraclea
Last Exile

Inspiration: At this time Last Exile was a relatively new anime that we had gotten into.  It was set in a steampunk-esque world and had some beautiful costumes.  Delphine was actually the main villain of the show, a truly heartless woman.  She’s the only antagonist I’ve cosplayed.

Materials/Construction Details:  I purchased a full body silver unitard with finger loops and belled out legs.  I still didn’t have a sewing machine at this point, so all the red parts and the black breast panel and area around the neck were hand stitched on.  The ring was designed out of Sculpy.  The challenging part came with making the hat.  I can’t remember what I did exactly, but it involved making a pattern out of paper and duct tape, building a frame out of cardboard, and covering it in red velour.  Then I added the button and tassel details.  I wore some seriously tall platform boots along with this costume.

Wig:  I actually removed the bangs from a white wig and attached them to the hat so that it was all one piece.
