Momocon Weekend

March15

This past weekend I went to Momocon for the first time and had a great time! For a free con I thought it was extremely well organized, entertaining, and also rather large. I debuted two new costumes at this con, No Thank You Ritsu and a figure variation of Nami:

On the Friday before the con I got to spend the day with some friends doing a photoshoot with the fantastic BGZ Studios at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and a local church. I wore Hikari from Strawberry Panic for the shoot and I’ll update that costume with pictures as they come in.

In other news, Judith Stephens, an extremely talented photographer I had the pleasure of doing shoots with last year, recently published a compilation book of some of her cosplay photography from 2010. My friends and I are featured on a couple of pages, so please check it out!

Snow Day!

January10

A massive snow storm blew into Atlanta overnight leaving up to six inches of snow on the ground, blanketing cars and trees to form a beautiful winter wonderland. For most Atlanta residents school and work was canceled and everyone was urged to stay home and off the icy roads. It would have been a perfect time for a snow photoshoot, but instead I ended up doing a bikini shoot. Strange timing, yes, but I had been waiting to do a shoot in this costume for a while, and being stuck at home all day presented the perfect opportunity.

I hope everyone has stayed safe and warm while this winter weather makes its way through!

UPDATE: There is a cosplay interview featuring me up on gamekult blog. Please check it out by clicking here! Thanks to Mercenar for taking interest in me and making this happen!

Happy Holidays!

December12

As I’m writing this it is snowing here in Atlanta. As a Florida native who only recently moved here, this is a spectacular event and the shapes the tiny flakes make are breathtaking. You Northerners can roll your eyes if you want, but nothing can wipe this grin off my face. It’s snowing! It’s really snowing!

Last night I went to MomoCon’s “Cosplayers on Ice” along with my friends to hang out and debut our new Christmas themed costumes. Though we didn’t actually ice skate, we still had fun just mingling and doing photoshoots. I did a Christmas variant of my favorite Fairy Tail girl, Juvia:

I’m so glad I finally made a Christmas costume. This is my favorite time of the year and making this costume really helped bring in the season! Happy holidays to you all!

Costume Updates!

November29

I recently did a series of photoshoots for three new costumes and one old one. Most of these costumes I’ve had for a while, but hadn’t had the chance to get pictures of them. These shoots were so much fun! First was an alternate version of Viola that I designed myself. This outfit was meant for a wedding, so I put together what I thought Viola might wear to such an event. Next I got more shots of my Halloween costume, this time wearing Felicia’s foot paws rather than shoes. After that I did a shoot of Ritsu wearing a traditional Japanese swimsuit, called a Sukumizu. Lastly, I put my Scout costume back on to get more pictures of it. For years I’ve only had the one, but now I have several more. Lots of love to my photographer! ♥

Sukumizu Ritsu ~ K-On!                     Scout ~ Team Fortress 2

I’m looking forward to a group sukumizu shoot this weekend! Expect some more sukumizu pictures next week featuring Mugi and Mio! Then the next project I’m planning will be a Christmas version of Juvia from Fairy Tail. I’ll be buying my red velvet and white fur trim soon! I can’t wait to get started.

UPDATE: New sukumizu group shots up!

Trick-or-Treat!

October31

As a cosplayer, I admit I never really cared too much for Halloween once I was too old to trick-or-treat. After all, by the time October rolled around, I had already paraded around in costume on many occasions. However, this year I was invited to a costume party I couldn’t pass up. I could have just worn a costume I had stored away in the closet, but while strolling past the wall of costumes at Party City I got an idea: I could wear my favorite giant, blue wig and be covered up! I ended up going to the party as a nun version of the cat-girl, Felicia. I know the character doesn’t look it judging by her usual attire, but as some of you know, she actually is a nun!

Despite feeling a bit under the weather over the holiday, I still attended the Halloween party my friend was hosting and had an amazing time with some fantastic people. Just being with all my friends really made me feel better!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!

A dream has been revealed…

October26

Welcome to Yashuntafun.com, a site detailing my journey through the world of cosplay. What is cosplay? Cosplay is short for “costume play” and basically involves dressing up in a costume to represent a character you enjoy. I’ve made costumes from animes, video games, comics, and even movies. You can find more detailed information regarding this on my costume page.

Updates: All costume profiles are now finished! My upcoming costumes list has also been updated and you can find it on the right sidebar.

Thank you for stopping by!
